In previous post, we described How to easily Track Button Clicks with Google Analytics >>. If you use Google AdWords and you want to track relevant user interactions, you can set Goals in Analytics and then report them as Conversions in AdWords.

Set Analytics Goals based on Events

In your Analytics Dashboard, go to “Admin” section, then under “View” column click on “Goals”:

Then it´s time to create a New Goal based on your Event:

Under the first step, “Goal Setup”, select “Custom”:

Under the second step, “Goal Description”, select the Type as “Event”:

Be careful when setting the third step, “Goal Details”, if you send an Event to Analytics like this:

Then set “Goal Details” as follows:

If you are ready, click Save. If your event tracking works, you will see how the Goals Statistics evolve in Analytics under Conversions -> Goals.

Report Analytics Goals as Conversions to AdWords

A condition to report Analytics Goals as Conversions to AdWords is to have linked Analytics and AdWords accounts:

So, link your Accounts and then go to AdWords Dashboard. In AdWords click on “Tools” icon and then on “Conversions”:

Click to add a New Conversion and then select “Import conversions from another system”

Then just choose Google Analytics and the Goals you want to measure in AdWords and you are done 🙂
